Let Them Eat Cake!
The theme for this year’s “Taste the Heritage” was Let Them Eat Cake, and sweet it was, indeed. Held Sun, June 7 at the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, it was a great day. 67 people came to wander the Village grounds and enjoy samples of cake.In the Welcome building, samples of Rhubarb cordial and homemade Ginger drink were available. Fittingly, Honey Cake was hosted at the Honey House, and both Maple Spice Cake and a homemade cornbread drizzled with real maple syrup were available at the Maple Syrup shack. In the Dairy display area, Cinnamon Buttermilk Bread was on offer. In the gazebo, Current Vinegar Cake was featured, and in the Kitchen display in the lower level of the church, Oatmeal Date Cake.
Jane Cunningham, Rena Cunningham and volunteer Brenda were busy serving Jane’s homemade soup with cheese, meat and homemade soda bread in Amelia’s Tea Room.
Winner in the cakes was Honey Cake, with 61 votes!
Be sure to join us next year, with an as-yet-to be-determined theme!
