2016 Ameliasburgh Fair
The weather was perfect for the 35th annual Ameliasburgh Fall Fair on Sept 24 & 25. The opening parade was a huge success, with bikes, tractors, old cars, horses, decorated wagons and themed floats. Steve Ferguson, Chair of the Milford Fair, was on hand to open the Fair; MP Neil Ellis, Tonya Smith (representing MPP Todd Smith). and Mayor Robert Quaiff also took part in the Opening Ceremonies. Evelyn Price, who has stepped down as Homecrafts Convenor after 15 years, received a Certificate of Appreciation and a gift certificate from Secretary Dan Dulmage.
Saturday’s events also included the Cattle Show and musical entertainment by Becky Elliott and Friends. There were many exhibits on display in the Homecraft, Art & Photography, Floral, Fruit & Vegetable, Woodworking, Youth and Small Animal divisions.
Sunday began bright and early with the Horse Show, and also included the Dog & Cat Show, musical entertainment by Abbie Chapman and by Grampa’s Goodtime Gang. RJ Smith the Balloon Dude and a petting zoo entertained children. Sunday afternoon wrapped up with the auction of winning baked goods and preserves with auctioneer Rick Kevan of Rock 107.
Special thanks go to the Prince Edward Auto Club, Roy Pennell for sourcing and running both Silent Auctions, the many volunteers for their hours of assistance, and the Ameliasburgh Recreation Committee for sponsoring the event.
